The flight eventually landed in Rome.

It’s not the best time to be involved in the aviation industry. While there’s a lot of talk about how our own aviation sector is falling apart (in some cases, literally), it can be easy to forget that planes are fucked around the world, from the crazy crash that happened in Korea to the recent plane flip in Toronto.

Now, there’s another bit of messed-up plane news. An American Airlines flight from New York to New Delhi was diverted to Rome on Sunday after a bomb threat was reportedly received via email. In response, Italian Air Force Eurofighter Typhoons escorted the plane (which was a Boeing, just sayin’) to Rome’s Fiumicino Airport, where it landed safely.

Authorities are now investigating the “possible security issue,” and the aircraft remains grounded pending clearance.
